In 1980 the Perfect Stroke Golf Co. DBA George's Golf Shop was founded in Bethpage, New York. By 1982 we were granted U.S Patent # 4,323,246 for a Golf Practice Putting Aid. This original invention named "perfect stroke" sold thru 1997, then was licensed too, and is currently being sold by one of the nation's top short game schools.
By late 1997 we relocated to Florida, and ended up in West Palm Beach. Shortly after that we began working on redesigning "perfect stroke." The intent and challenge was to design a Putting Training Aid that would increase meaningful feedback to all golfers. The concept of angular planes protruding into the striking area was thought out and made sense, but the length of the striking area had to be determined. A total of four prototypes were made over the next two years. We tested them and found that they all were somewhat frustrating and not at all user friendly. The project slowed after that, and as the economy tanked, it was time to get a job. By 2006 it was back to the drawing board. Over the next ten months a total of nine prototypes were hand made and tested by random golfers at a public golf course. After each test the length of the striking area was increased slightly. We found that the angular planes were detecting strokes were the putter face wasn't square at impact, and by expanding the striking area made striking the sweet spot less important. After the ninth test I filed for a U.S. Patent, and manufacturing began. On Dec. 30, 2008 U.S. Patent # D583,888 S was issued, and the product was shown at the 2009 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida. Early 2009 Trademark 100% PURE STROKE was applied for, and on Oct, 27, 2009 Trademark Reg. No. 3,701,209 was issued. Production was geared up, and by December 2009 the Pure Stroke Golf Company was ready for business. 100% Pure Stroke went on sale at the 2010 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida. Most sales have been in the United States, though foreign sales are coming along.
